CAS hours (for my school, most people have around 100-200 hours.I don't think this will be hard but still) TOK big presentation and essay (which count towards your grade.TOK (which is honestly kinda fun, but not worth the diploma).Extended Essay (which can be hell depending on what area you choose). With the IB diploma, here are all the extra things you have to do compared to taking the same IB classes and not doing the diploma. Now back to why you shouldn't do IB diploma. They didn't feel super unprepared which is good. One consistent thing I have heard from IB diploma kids or IB heavy people is that college felt easy or manageable to them (depending on their major). And it is good to take challenging courses in high school because college probably won't be easier than high school. Also AP/IB classes can give you college credit which is always good. if you want to be an engineer, doing IB Math/physics hl could help you solidify this desire or help you realize engineering is not right for you. This is because doing higher level courses in these subjects can help you decide if a college major/career path is right for you. Now I don't recommend the IB diploma, however, I would recommend doing as many IB/AP classes as you can or at least do them in the subjects you want to. CAS is just something to take up your time and is annoying. They say CAS shouldn't just be about logging in hours, but it is. They say CAS is supposed to help you be a more well rounded student, but it doesn't. Imo, I feel like the IB diploma is just unnecessary and takes up so much of your time for no reason. DO NOT DO THE IB DIPLOMA (if you live in USA). So I am a senior in high school and I have some thoughts about IB after doing 1st year.
